Donor Advised Fund (DAF)

A Donor-Advised Fund is a giving account often administered by a financial organization or community foundation. Giving through a DAF allows donors the flexibility of contributing to the fund as frequently as they like - and allows them the opportunity to advise the DAF when and to which organizations they would like to support. Donating directly from your Donor-Advised Fund is a convenient way to support our schools - and a great way to invest in our community. A DAF gives donors the flexibility to recommend how much and how often money is granted to Herron Classical Schools and it provides some tax advantages. To make a gift through your DAF now, click the link below, enter your DAF institution in the search bar then just click "GO."

When granting through your DAF, please use the following information:

Community Programs

Gifts of Stock

Giving stocks and appreciated bonds may offer better tax benefits than a gift of cash. Your tax deduction will be based on the full market value of the securities at the time of transfer and the gift will avoid capital gains taxes. To make a tax-deductible gift through appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual fund shares, please contact the Advancement Office at 317-231-0100 x 1128 or

Qualified Charitable Distribution

Annual withdrawals from traditional retirement accounts are required after age 70 1/2, and there is a penalty for skipping a required minimum distribution. You can avoid income tax on your required distribution by making a Qualified Charitable Distribution. Check with your financial advisor to see if this method of giving is right for you.

Planned Giving

You may wish to remember Herron Classical Schools in your will, and/or set up a charitable trust that could benefit both your family and the school. Please contact the Advancement office for information on how your planned gift can create a lasting impact, (317) 231-0010 ext. 1128.

In-Kind Gifts

Sometimes gifting an item that the school needs is helpful, such as classroom supplies, musical instruments, and athletic equipment. While a receipt is issued for all in-kind gifts, their value is determined by the donor and his or her tax advisor. Please contact the Advancement office if you are interested in making an in-kind donation, please contact the Advancement Office at 317-231-0100 x 1128 or
